Intrinsic Fun

Hi, parents!

My name is David Turner, and I am the parent of a wonderful child. I can't stand most of the games that I see kids playing: they are either ad-infested, or full of loot boxes, or supposedly educational but actually not.

But my kid loves playing the games that I've made (even though they're intended for older kids and adults). She doesn't really understand what's going on, but she sets goals for herself, and tries to achieve them.

So I thought I would make a game that would appeal to her. I put together ten mini-games (and two interactive explorations) that I thought she would find interesting. I deliberately chose a homespun look so the focus could stay on the games themselves.

This is Intrinsic Fun: Coming soon for iPad and Android-based tablets.

Some of the games are old favorites, like the 15 puzzle, and others are totally new (the bees are based on a math puzzle called graph isomorphism, but you don't have to understand any math at all to play).

What all of the games have in common is that they are about the intrinsic joy of figuring things out. The reward for winning is that you know that you worked hard and figurerd out something hard. That's what I want for my kid.

Every day, two of the activiies are available for free. If you like what you see,for one price, you get full access to all twelve activities (plus any more that I later decide to add), forever.
